Shainin Links V1.1
Course Documentation
Thanks for your interest in Shainin Links! I hope you enjoy this course as much as I do. It is unlike anything else I've ever played, and is definitely one of my favorite and toughest courses. If you have any comments to make about the course, I would like to hear them, so please email me. This document describes the course and gives tips for playing the course.
Course Description: Shainin Links is in a class of its own. Hard fairways, fast greens, deep pot bunkers, water hazards, and hidden dangers make Shainin Links one tough course. Par is definitely a great score on this course. If you are hitting the ball well, the holes aren't too long and can present birdies if your putter is good. If your hitting or putting is off, it could be a very long and frustrating round. The feel, challenge, excitement, and look of the course make it an instant classic.
Tips For Playing Well On Shainin Links:
1. Adjust your power: Regardless of which Tiger Woods game you are playing, you will have to hit the ball easier with both your putter and the rest of your clubs. In Tiger Woods 2000, you REALLY have to hit the ball soft to hit it a good distance. In Tiger Woods 99, the ball will bounce and roll forever it seems on the fairway...take advantage of it and don't let it become a disadvantage by going in the rough or even worse, OB.
2. Lag putting: Unless you have to make the putt, you are inside 5 feet, or you are a really good putter, a good strategy to follow is simply trying to 2 putt everything outside 5 feet. On other courses, you can be aggressive with most putts inside 20 feet. However, if you putt aggressively with everything inside 20 feet on Shainin Links, and are missing the hole, you make take 5 or more putts to get the ball in the hole.
3. Don't get frustrated: I like to say this for all of my courses, because all of my courses are fairly difficult, especially this one. Remember the 3 Ps: good Putting, staying Patient, and lots of Practice. If you follow the 3 Ps, Shainin Links should still be difficult, but your game should be better.
Remember, if aren't playing as well as you would like to, this is one of the hardest courses I've ever played, and is definitely one of the hardest courses I've ever created. Adjusting your power, avoiding hazards, and consistent play are only some of the challenges that Shainin Links presents. Enjoy!
