Thunder Cove V1.0
Course Documentation
"The majestic mountain scenery will enchant you. The crystal-clear waters will mesmerize you. The towering trees will mystify you. And the course will punish you. 18 holes of superb terror will guarantee an exciting round of golf."
Located deep in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Thunder Cove is a course that will test your endurance and your accuracy. Hit most of the fairways and the course will provide a daunting challenge; miss most of the fairways and your scorecard may fill up with bogeys. Some of the holes will reluctantly give up birdie, while the others will taunt the golfer straight in the face, daring the golfer to try to make par. Although Thunder Cove spans a large piece of terrain, the length of the course is under 7000 yards from the championship tees. However, don't be fooled by this; on the holes where length isn't a defense, there are other defenses the course uses to punish the golfer. For example, hole 7 normally plays 90 yards from the championship tees, and is an easy hole if the golfer can hit the green in regulation. However, if the golfer finds one of the two deep pot bunkers, this easy 90 yard hole can turn into a grueling hole that ruins the scorecard. Not a flashy course, this course mainly uses it's original terrain and flora to punish the golfer. At under 6 megabytes, this course has a lot to offer, is easy to download, and doesn't take up much space on your computer.
Thunder Cove is a course that will take you away from the crazy city life to the soothing beauty and enjoyment that only the mountains can provide. However, don't get too relaxed; remember, you're here to golf. On each shot it is important to stay out of the rough, so don't let your guard down on any shot. This course could have been easily called Thunder Rough instead of Thunder Cove, because going in the rough can bring you to your knees just like a fierce rumble of thunder. If you are playing well, you can enjoy the cove on holes 12 and 13 and the thunder coming from the roaring crowds. However, if you are playing less than perfect golf, the only thunder you may hear may be the thunder of your ball hitting one of the many hazards located on the course, including trees, heavy rough, sand, and the cove, Thunder Cove.
Thunder Tips:
- The big tip: Stay in the fairway; avoid the rough. A basic tip that works well on all courses, this tip is vital to play well at Thunder Cove. Stay in the fairway, and pars and birdies should dominate the scorecard; get into trouble by going in the rough and your round may not end soon enough.
- The obvious tip: Bring your "A" game. Since this is Tiger's game, you better bring your "A" game! This course will reveal your weaknesses in a hurry. Drive poorly and it will be a long day of trying to save par. Approach poorly and you will be putting a lot of pressure on your short game to save par. Odds are that you will get some tricky short shots during your round, so your short game creativity and execution must be up to par if you want to save par. Finally, the putter, as on any other course, can be the difference between making pars and birdies instead of pars and bogeys.
- The final tip: Who says golf (including video golf) isn't a sport?! You better have a lot of endurance and strength, both mental and physical, to overcome this course.
