RECOMMENDED UNM INSTRUCTORS:

Name: Subject: Course: Comments:
Aceves, Adriana H. (Rocio) Mathematics 316 (Appl Ord Diff Equ) Very nice, taught tough material well
Astorino, Todd Physical Education 144 (Tennis) Good tennis instructor
Barry, James English 220 (Expository Writing) I'm really not into English, but he made it about as good as he could have
Baumgartel, Tom History 101, 102 (Western Civ I & II) Had him for Western Civilization in 9th Grade at Sandia Prep, and now I have him for Western Civilization at UNM 5 years later.  Funny how things work out, but he is a History teacher worth searching for.  History isn't my best or favorite subject, but he makes it fun and worthwhile.
Benavidez, John Management 522 (Marketing)
Blankenbaker, David Mathematics 163 (Calculus II) I had him for Calculus II, and he is easily one of the best mathematics instructors I have ever had.  He made Calculus easy to understand, because he went through a ton of steps, and worked a lot of useful examples.
Bohara, Alok Economics 309 (Econometrics) Tough class to make interesting, but taught the essential material
Brookshire, David S. Economics 343 (Nat Rsrc Econ) Missed several classes, but good instructor
Brunder, Christopher Economics 320 (Labor Economics) Good lecturer, great guy
Burness, Stuart Economics 300 (Intermed. Micro) Extremely smart, kept class interesting
Coes, Don Economics 303 (Intermed. Macro) Incredibly smart, intense lectures, felt like I learned a lot after taking the course
Gandert, Miguel Communication & Journalism 261 (News Photography)
Ganderton, Philip Economics 212 (Personal Investing) One of the greatest persons I've ever met.  If you can get him as an instructor, do so.  Even if you can't get him for class, he is a wonderful person to be around.  Click his name to visit his cool web site, or go here:  http://gandini.unm.edu.
Gluck, John P. Psychology 105 (General Psychology) My instructor for Introductory Psychology, the class itself was interesting, but he made the class so much better than it could have been, because of the numerous stories he told us, which were hilarious AND related to psychology, and his enthusiasm for teaching psychology.
Gutzler, David Earth & Planetary Sciences 251 (Meteorology) An awesome meteorology professor; knows his stuff, keeps you interested, and took us on a field trip to the National Weather station, the only field trip I've been on at college.
Hamilton, David Economics 331 (Poverty) Amazing person, approaching 90 years old, still going strong and still a great instructor
Hood, Jacqueline Management 506 (Organizational Behavior) Could be a stand-up comic if she wanted to be, runs a very interesting and interactive class, but still learned a lot.
Jones, Mick Economics 350 (Public Finance) Gave a lot of extra credit :)
Kassicieh, Sul Management 511, 517, 518 (Management of Technology)
Kostur, Laura Music 139 (Music Appreciation) Even though it wasn't Metallica or Offspring, got to listen to music as a class, so not too bad
Krause, Kate Economics 106 (Intro Micro) Easy to follow lectures, really prepares you for tests, neat little experiments
Logsdon, Jeanne Management 508 (Ethics)
Loring, Terry A. Mathematics 318 (Graph Theory) Awesome use of technology (listen to lectures and view notes online), great instructor
Luger, George F. Computer Science 151 (Intro C++), 201 (CS Math Intro) Good at explaining things in detail
Luse, Robin Communication & Journalism 262 (Radio/TV Performance)
Mertz, Richard Communication & Journalism 468 (Mass Media Law)
Moore, Cris Computer Science 251 (Intermed. C++) Simply put, a genius.  He is into Physics, he is a city counsellor in Santa Fe, and by the way, he is also a great computer programmer and instructor.  We studied tons of programs he created throughout the semester, we made games which were great at building recursion, template, and other intermediate C++ skills, and I really took a lot out of his class.  Interested?  Check out his web site:  http://www.santafe.edu/~moore/.
Munson, Kristen Communication & Journalism 130 (Public Speaking) I had her for Public Speaking, and she made the class fun and enjoyable, by letting us choose topics we were interested in to talk about in class (of course I did the Denver Broncos).  A great teacher, and a really nice person.
Rice, Roberta Political Science 220 (Comparative Politics) Very organized, very easy to follow lectures
Saia, Jared Computer Science 361 (Data Structures&Alg I) Very tough course, but extremely organized and kept us on track
Salazar, Andrew Management 513 (Technological Forecasting)
Schatzberg, John Management 526 (Finance)
Scott, David K. Physical Education 464 (Theory of Football) A walking book of football knowledge, I had him for Theory of Football (what a great class!!!).  If you're into football as much as I am, you will love this class, and you will love having Professor Scott as your instructor.
Stewart, Douglas Management 525 (Quality Management)
Walsh, Steve Management 512, 514 (Management of Technology)
Wolfe, David M. Physics 160, 161, 262 (Intro Physics Seq) Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for him, Dr. Wolfe is leaving us to go to Russia for a year and help out a lot of scientists there by finding work for them to do.  He might return to UNM someday (cross your fingers).
Yourstone, Steven Management 520 (Operations)
Zink, Lee B. Economics 105 (Intro Macro) Had my first Economics course with him, very good instructor, very good at explaining introductory concepts
